Now - Creativity & Healing

I am currently engaged in a journey of healing from limbic system impairment using the DNRS program.  As part of this therapy, I have learned to foster my creativity through watercolor practice. My paintings are usually posted on my Instagram site. Sometimes I also write blog posts.

Before - Research

My research focused on identifying and developing educational and outreach strategies that improve public understanding of fisheries and aquaculture processes, production, and harvest and enhance stakeholder involvement in marine fisheries management decision-making and. This work included:

  • Examining linkages between tourism and seafood and how these relationships can enhance communication about sustainable fisheries practices and economic diversification in fisheries communities.

  • Examining public perceptions and perspectives regarding marine fisheries and aquaculture.

  • Assessment of training needs for marine fisheries and other natural resource decision-makers (including managers, stakeholders,  scientists and NGOs).

Much of this work involved assisting multi-investigator teams with development, submission of research proposals for interdisciplinary, intersectoral and/or multi-state projects focused on characterizing tourism and recreation problems, strategies, and target markets in primarily rural communities. In this capacity, I have assisted with literature review, budgeting, addressing human subjects standards, survey design (online and paper), data analysis, project planning and management, and mid-project and final reporting.  Visit the CV tab for more info.
